Police Officer Arrested on Child Pornography Charge

Cibolo Texas Police Officer Arrested

Yesterday, a Cibolo (Texas) police officer was arrested for possession of child pornography. The crime came to light after a woman filed a complaint with the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office stating that Officer Chris Ybarra was posting sexual pictures of her on the internet. The woman stated that Ybarra did not have her permission to distribute those pictures. During the investigation into the complaint, officers found two photos of child pornography in an email account belonging to Ybarra. At this point, it was determined that the investigation should be moved to the state level and was passed to the Texas Rangers.

Dots Start Connecting

Another link was established through Ybarra’s IP address. The Nebraska State Patrol was conducting a sting operation and had been in contact with an individual, in August, regarding having sex with a child. The KSAT article is a little confusing on what was happening. We’re not sure if the undercover officer was saying he wanted to have sex with a child or if Officer Ybarra was the one wanting to have sex with a child. In one case, Ybarra would be supplying a child to be sexually assaulted and in the other he would be the customer sexually assaulting the child. While the distinction is important, at a very minimum, it shows Ybarra’s propensity toward sexual abuse of children.

Move Evidence Comes Out

Just this week more evidence was found. An SD card was discovered. On the memory card were more pornographic pictures but it also included a pornographic video. Chris Ybarra has admitted to recording that video. This evidence is newly discovered so there are few details. We don’t know if Ybarra had some kind of relation with the child or the child’s family. We don’t know if he knows other pedophiles and went to one of their houses to record a child being abused.

Multiple Charges Against Officer

37 year old Cibolo Officer, Chris Ybarra, was arrested and booked into the Guadalupe County Jail. According to the MySanAntonio.com article he was charged with, “two counts possession of child pornography and one count of obscene wholesale promotion with deviant sex acts.” Ybarra’s bail was set at $75,000. He posted bond and was released. Officer Ybarra has been with the Cibolo Police Department for 11 years. He was placed on administrative leave while the agency does their internal investigation.

Cibolo Police Chief Bryan Hugghins released the following statement, “We will continue to hold those within our organization accountable to those high morals and ethical standards and swiftly deal with those who choose to violate those standards.”
