San Antonio Police Department Officer Arrested

(TX) – In the early hours of this morning, San Antonio police officers arrested one of their own. At least one individual called the emergency number to report a driver swerving on the road and onto the shoulder.

When officers found the described vehicle, they determined that he was driving at speeds around 100 miles per hour. None of the articles indicate whether this was verified through radar or through observation of the speed required to catch the vehicle. When they were able to get the driver to pull over they discovered that the driver was Rafael Hernandez III, a 3-year veteran with the San Antono Police Department.

Driving While Intoxicated

26-year old Rafael Hernandez was given a field sobriety test and was determined to be intoxicated. Hernandez was then arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI). The San Antonio Police Department has placed Hernandez on leave during the criminal investigation. No information was given regarding the bond amount.

According to MySanAntonio.com, “Hernandez is the 18th San Antonio-area first responder to be arrested in 2020.”
