We’ve all seen the poor decisions made by police officers but some decisions are so ridiculously over the top that you have to wonder how the officer could ever have been hired in the first place.  How can someone with such bad judgment have been able to pass all the testing that is done before an officer is hired?  Sure, no amount of testing is going to catch every problem but what happened in Orlando, Florida was crazy.

There were actually two 6 year old children who were arrested, for different incidents, but only one has come out publicly.  Kaia Rolle suffers from sleep apnea.  She was having a bad day due to a lack of sleep.  A staff member at Lucious and Emma Nixon Academy grabbed the child by the wrists to calm her down and the child kicked the staffer.  Resource Officer Dennis Turner arrested the child for battery, handcuffed, and transported her in the back of his police car.  She was taken to juvenile where she was fingerprinted and a mugshot was taken.

According to the Buzzfeed article, the agency has a policy of not arresting anyone under the age of 12 without first getting approval from the watch commander.  Officer Turner did not seek approval before arresting Kaia Rolle.  Officer Dennis Turner has since been fired but the damage has already been done.
