15 Charges Filed Against Deputy Who Molested Children

Deputy Jayleen Devon Fleer, who is a 5-year veteran with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, was arrested on Wednesday. Deputy Fleer was booked on a total of 15 different charges relating to the molestation of at least three different children under the age of 16. According to Fox5SanDiego.com, “Fleer, who is not eligible for bail, now faces 15 charges related to the arrest, including six counts of sending or showing harmful material, three for luring a minor for sex, two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior with a minor and oral copulation with a person under 16, among other charges.”

Fleer is a 27-year old male who had been assigned to work as a detention guard at the San Diego Central Jail. After his arrest, by the Chula Vista Police Department, for the child molestation charges, he was booked into the Vista Detention Center.

Crime Stoppers Success

The arrest of Deputy Fleer came after a tip was called into a Crime Stoppers hotline on April 9. The tipster didn’t know the identity of the man, only that he was engaging in sex with a minor. According to Patch.com,

“Investigators were able to identify the suspect and also determine that there were two additional underage victims,” the lieutenant said, adding that the alleged offenses “had no nexus to (Fleer’s) employment.”

Deputy Fleer was placed on desk duty while the investigation was on-going. His arraignment is scheduled for July 31.
