CENTRAL RECORDS

Central Records:  210-335-6201

Central Records is the main department you will probably deal with.  They handle inmate information which includes looking up sid numbers, charges, warrants and various other information.  They also sell items like offense and traffic reports, verifications of incarceration and criminal histories.  If you need to be fingerprinted for your job they do that too.  This department has a wealth of information which is a good thing because just about every other department will transfer their calls there.  Sometimes even before a single word has left your mouth.

To get inmate information from Central Records you will need to have either a sid number or the inmate’s name and date of birth.  They are capable of looking up the information by name only but if there is more than one person with that name they won’t know which one you are looking for.  They don’t even tell you that’s an option probably to avoid upset people if the wrong information is given out.

A main thing I like about this department is that the phones are still answered by people.  I’ve tried getting information from other large detention facilities and ended up having to go through tons of recordings.  A problem they do have is their phone congestion between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.  If you call during those times you may be on hold for a while.  As it works towards 5:00 pm the wait time starts getting shorter.  If you can, call during off hours to get through quicker.  Central Records is open 24/7 for phone requests about inmate information.  If you need to go there in person they are open to the public from 7:00 am – 6:30 pm, Monday through Friday except for holidays.

Arleth – The booking process can depend on several things. How busy they are. What the charge is (if the person is drunk they will let them sober up some before they process him). A person is usually booked within 6 to 8 hours.

    • Justin

honestly it can take 12-48 hrs. and they ARE not always busy. I have first hand knowledge of how it is. inmates trying to sleep but are being forced to stay awake. 80% of the time the officers are intaking roughly 3-4 every 2 hours, roughly.

My fiancé was recently arrested and he asked me to try to get his offense/incident report from bexar county sheriffs department. How would I be able to obtain his police report and would they even release it to me?

    • admin

Cassandra – If it’s available for release they will release it to you. Sometimes it takes a while before the officer turns it in.

Claudia – You can write him a letter asking him to put you on his visitation list and to write back when he has done it. Other than that you will have to go to the jail to see if you are on the list. They do not release that information over the phone for security reasons. You will need governmental picture identification such as a driver’s license, when you go. You can call Central Records at 210-335-6201 to find out what his visitation days are.

Rosie – You can post bond on his regular charges but he will have an immigration hold and will not be able to get out even after you posted bond on the other charges.

Terrie – It just depends on when one comes available. There is no set time.

My boyfriend has to report to probation. Im also his provider. My phone is currently not allowing me to accept calls or make them. So how would he be able to contact his probation officer.

      • admin

Melissa – We’re a little confused. It almost sounds like your boyfriend is still in jail if you are saying you can’t accept calls. If you mean you can’t accept calls from or make calls to the probation office, then there is probably a block on your phone number. That could have been placed there when someone else had the number. It’s done by the company that handles the phone calls at the facility, not by the phone company. Another thing that makes it sound like your boyfriend is still in jail. If he is not in jail, can’t he use a fried or family member’s phone to make the call?

My son had his court date and received a deferred adjudication (as a 1st time offender) on Oct 18th and is still being held pending a mental health screening. How long does this process take and when can we expect him to be released?

Art – As you can imagine getting information of a medical nature is very difficult for us. Your best bet would be to contact the Medical section at 210-335-6260.

Bob – We need more information than that. What kind of property? Who was the first agency that arrested you? They may have it.

Leslyy – An immigration hold is federal. It used to be that ICE would investigate to see if the person was here legally but under Trump the normal processes have been tossed out. We can’t honestly tell you what they’ll do. We don’t know.

Michael – We are not the Bexar County jail. We are a private website that tries to help the friends and family of people who have been incarcerated. Call Central Records at 210-35-6201. They should be able to tell you if your friend is there.

I’m trying to find a friend who is locked up but I don’t know where he’s locked up. I do have his full name and date of birth — will Central Records or any site tell me where he’s located as well as his sid number ?

    • admin

May – Yes, they will give you the information if he is there.

If my boyfriend is being paroled from county and he just got to letter from the parole board…how long does it usually take to get out…they already gave him a tdc number for the first time a few days ago

    • admin

Jennifer – You need to contact the Adult Probation Office for that. We don’t have the information but even if we did, it’s probably not what’s happening under the current conditions. Everything is a mess right now.

Jennifer – He will still have a case that is being monitored. That case is handled by Adult Probation. Parole is a state level process. He may be in the county jail but his case is a state level one if parole is an option. Adult Probation handles the state level cases. They will have information that the county jail doesn’t have.

Kieran – Neihter. The calls go to Central Records. There are civilians there but they are not secretaries. If there is something they cannot handle, they may transfer you to an officer but in general, you will be speaking to a civilian employee.
