What Do Those Letters Mean?

We know we are missing a lot of abbreviations and acronyms.  We’re working hard to get answers but have been having some difficulties.  The judicial side is not being very cooperative at this point.  We will continue to ask for the information that the public needs.  Thank you for your patience.

NOTE:  The abbreviations are put in by several different agencies (jail, D.A., courts…). There are no standard abbreviations. The employees make up their own so if you see something that looks like it’s the same, it probably is even if it’s slightly different.

Thank you for this website it has helped in a few different situations

    Can you advise

    RES JRY TR – CT

I realize , its a reset for jury trial but not sure what CT means also not sure why it keeps resetting ( this is the 4th or 5th reset )

    • admin

Bob – Normally CT stands for court. Unfortunately, there is not a standard set of abbreviations. Everyone seems to make up their own. It could even be the initials of the person who entered the information though they usually use a slash, not a dash. Do any of our readers know what this means? Please share your knowledge if you do.

Mark – It’s really hard to tell what some of the abbreviations mean because the employs at the various agencies make up their own abbreviations. It appears to say Supplemental Report Submitted proceed with… We’re not sure what the VR of ST stands for. If any any of our readers know what this means, please share your knowledge. Thank you.

PPOU- PER PROTECTIVE ORDER UNDER, then it usually has a judges name,.

VA impact statement – victims advocate impact statement- for family violence cases the last to letters are victims initials

Art 2.1397 RCVD, EXTREMELY IMPORTANT, this is the cops affidavit statement that all the evidence has been turned over to the DA, IF it is not present this means the cops did not turn over everything and most likely you have a serious civil rights violation. Any case since 9/1/2021 is required by law other wise it is bare minimum a 14th amendment “due process” violation, bexar county loves violating our rights! ” Convict no more” #learnyourrightsfightyourcase

      • admin

Jason – Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge regarding the definitions. To our readers, we are not attorneys and cannot comment on the legal issues Jason mentions. As always, we recommend our readers contact an attorney to ensure your rights are protected.

Bob – Condition of release – hold for Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office. It seems they ran out of room regarding what was going to happen with the bond. Unfortunately there is nothing uniform about the abbreviations used. The people entering them in the computer make up their own shorthand.

      • admin

Frances – The first part looks like “received first pretrial.” VOL could be for voluntary or volume. Sub is usually subject that that’s not normally used in the judicial details. They would use def to indicate the defendant. Do any of our readers know what this means?

Conditions for release HOLD for tarrant county sheriffs office.
If there is no amount after bond to be, could mean it’s not yet been decided the bond amount. It’s up to tarrant county

      • admin

Jonathan – RLS PR usually stands for “release, P.R. bond.” It looks like it’s saying he was released on two charges through a P.R. bond.

I’ve got several abbreviation questions. If someone could help me, I would definitely appreciate it. (Background on the person in jail (trying to be as unbiased as I can here)). Woman charged with the Murder of her estranged husband on 12/17/2021. They had 2 children together, ages 4 and 8 at the time. Looks like trial date has been set to 7/21/2022. I believe she tried to plea insanity (she’s NOT legally insane). Bond was set at $200k, has a court appointed attorney. It may have been requested that she has NO contact with the children ages 4 & 9, but I can’t tell by this list? I believe Psych evaluations were requested. Anyway, here are some things I don’t understand what they mean (I will put them in date order from earliest to latest (12/17/21 to 4/18/22):
    1. ORDR OF REFERRAL & SEALED MF PSYCH EXAM (1/13/22)
    2. NO CONTACT ORDER V1645P0210-GRANTED (1/13/22)
    3.CRT ORD PSYCH EVAL V1628P1852(SANITY) (2/24/22)
    4.CASE HANDLD M.A.C. SEAL MT SNTY (2/24/22)
    5. REFERRED TO CLM SEAL MT SNTY (2/24/22)
    6.MF BOND REDUCTION(3/10/22)
    7.VA-IMPACT SENT SR (3/15/22)
8.MAG RCVD ORD OF RE FERRAL FOR MTN BND (3/18/22)
    9.VA-IMPACT RECEIVED SR (4/4/22)
10.REFERRED TO CLM SANITY DISP (4/21/22) **Why is this a future date of Thursday?? Today is 4/18/22)**
11.REFERRED TO CLM BND REDCT (4/21/22)** Why is this a future date of Thursday?? Today is 4/18/22)**
    12. TRAIL DATE SET (7/21/22).
Any help I can get on understanding what each of these means would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. I just want to understand everything. Basically want to make sure she is held responsible and justice is served for my cousin and his 2 precious children. I don’t want to see her bond reduced, don’t want to see them deem her insane (like I said she is not insane or mentally handicapped at all. She’s actually pretty intelligent.). I want to see her stand trial, fairly, and be held responsible for murdering the father of her children. We’ve been thru so much, especially my Aunt & Uncle and their 2 precious, innocent grandbabies who are suffering from the lose of both parents!! (But she definitely doesn’t deserve or should ever be allowed to have any contact with them until it’s their choose past the age of 18.)
Also, with the court date set for July 21, 2022 … Is that an open court room? Like would I be able to travel there and attend the court hearings and proceedings or would I have to have special permission to attend.
    Thanks,
A grieving cousin in Texas, L.A.Z.

    • admin

Leigh Anne – First, our condolences on the loss of your cousin. The information you have listed is judicial information. The area we focus on is the booking and detention of individuals. What we can tell you is that yes, a psychological evaluation was ordered by the court. And yes, there is also a no contact order which we presume applies to the children and other family members. Unfortunately it does appear that her bond was reduced. Understandably, you have a lot of questions. We recommend you call the court clerk, for the court where the trial is set to be held, to get clarification on what their judicial is saying and on how to attend the trial.

    • Lauren

Leigh Anne, agree with what admin said, one thing i wanted to point out is the VA-IMPACT statement it says sent and received, I’m assuming your relative with the initials SR. That’s who it was sent too, the fact that it says RECEIVED is good. It means that the victim/your family filled out and returned the victim statement which is written explanation of the financial, physical, psychological and emotional impact it’s had on the victim and family members VA impact statements are very important in situations like this. It’ll help tremendously. Make sure to let your family know to be very hands on and active with the case meaning the more persistent, cooperate and vocal your family is about how y’all wish to see justice be served the better. They take the victim statements seriously. So sorry for your loss

Ps- call the court to find out about the trial hearing and ask them any questions you have about attending

      • Leigh Anne

Thank you so much Lauren for your knowledge. Yes, SR is the victims mother and she has custody of my cousins children. I’m assuming a No Contact order was granted so the person in jail who committed the murder can NOT have contact with the children. The bond was reduced on 5/14 to 100k from 200k but I’m hoping noone gets her out of jail!!! Thanks again. Can you tell if the Psch evaluation showed that she can NOT claim insanity. I’m praying she doesn’t because she is NOT insane. She is crazy but NOT legally insane!!!! Thanks again!!

      • Leigh Anne

I need help in finding out what all this means. On the case above, my nephew’s murderer looks like she took a plea deal, but how do I find out what the plea deal was??? It says, Judgement Deferred. Awaiting Sentence and Disposition says: PG CT-GUILTY. Charges are: Murder
        Please please help me!!

      • admin

Leigh Anne – I understand your distress. Unfortunately that’s on the judicial side. It’s not really what we deal with. You could try contacting the District Attorney’s Office to find out, but I’m not sure if they will tell you. I thought in big cases they spoke to the family if they were going to offer a plea deal, but I don’t know that for sure. If any of our readers, particularly any attorneys, know what she can do, please share your knowledge. Thank you.

      • Leigh Anne

Thank you for your comment. I’ve tried to research everything I see on the notes and it seems as though she waived a jury and plead guilty to Murder but it looks as though she is only going to receive probation w/ or w/out rehab? I’m just very ANGRY that she is getting such a light sentence for my cousins murder. I mean, she walked into his home to drop their 4 yr old son off with his father, shot and killed him in his bedroom and left the 4 yr old there with his deceased father and left the home, calling to turn herself in hours later….. I’m very, very disappointed that she was even “offered” such a joke of punishment by the Bexar County D.A.’s office. Not even getting punished for the unlawful use of a gun, leaving the scene, leaving her 4 yr old at the scene of a murder she just committed?????? I mean, come on …. She plead Guilty to Murder and she’s going to get freaking probation??? I’m just so disappointed beyond belief. THERE IS NO JUSTICE FOR MY COUSIN!!! This is completely INSANE!!

      • admin

Leigh Anne – I’m so sorry for the pain your family is going through. The only thing I can recommend is trying to contact a reporter to bring this situation to light. Best wishes.

      • admin

Ms. Hernz – District Attorney file Received. The S.M. 40330 is more than likely the initials and employee number of the person entering the information into the system.

There is no longer an insanity plea in Texas. After the Andrea Yates case.

Pardon I was incorrect. Apparently the insanity defense is covered by Texas criminal procedure code and to be a bit more specific Article 46c, the following is the link if you are interested.

      https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/Docs/CR/htm/CR.46C.htm

However by my interpretation of what the case docket says, yes a mental health evaluation was done and it was sealed. However the outcome looks like the mental health evaluation found the defendant sane. The preponderance of evidence is on the state to prove the defendants guilt, but at the same token, the defense has to provide evidence that the defendant was indeed criminally insane at the time of the crime. Meaning without a shadow of a doubt. As to why the Bexar County Court decided to lower the bond, I have not a clue.

My most deep hearted sympaths to you and your family, condolences. The children lost both their parents, I hope they are doing as well as they can given the circumstances.

To answer your question, yes it’s an open court room, you should be able to attend the jury trial. Just call ahead and speak to the County Court or the district attorneys office to make sure.

Hopefully the case gets wrapped up and she is found guilty. The courts are backed up and cases get reset or one side asks for a continuance.

Please take care and may justice prevail.

DVD sent to scan means documents/evidence was sent to be put on file.
Art 2.1397 RCVD means the written report/statement about the incident was submitted by Law Enforcement to the States attorney (the DA), and received by the DA

    • admin

Buh – Legal defense counsel. This is indicating that it was denied because someone determined he could afford to pay for an attorney.

Marty – Notice of intent to use prior conviction. We are not attorneys, but that sounds like the prosecution wants to increase the penalty based on it not being a first offense.

I bonded out my (for lack of a better description ) common law son- I am now considered il loco parentis to a 19 year old with some mental illness issues. I see on his bond in the criminal records detach this abbreviation AFF And AFF SURETY TO SURR. Anyone have a clue or direction they could point me?? I’d appreciate it

    • admin

Christopher – That stands for Affidavit of Surety to Surrender. I’ll quote Google on what it is. “When you are on bond with a bonding company, they may seek to get off the bond. Two reasons the company may do this is because the defendant has failed to pay or because the defendant is not checking in with the bonding company.” Basically, whoever is responsible for bonding you out, no longer wants to be involved.

Sorry I should of submitted all my abbreviation questions in one comment but I didn’t realize I had questions on other abbreviations until I decided to look at other case. So I apologize. What does APPT OF ATTY FLD mean?
    Or ART 2.1397 RCVD mean?

    And EFILE ENVELOPE NBR?

    Or DISP/NO FORF 0604 1822111

    and ER2 ADDED BY C6BCREX

All details found in the events when searching my cases. Thank u for taking your time to help not only me but others understand abbreviations and other things relating to Bexar county jail. I absolutely love this website and recommend anyone I come across who may have questions regarding the jail to check it out.

    • admin

Brit – You are in the judicial part which is not really what we do, but I’ll try my best. APPT of ATTY FLD appears to mean “appointment of attorney field”. This would be where they would enter the name of the court appointed attorney. I don’t know what Article 2.1397 is, but RCVD would stand for “received”. EFILE ENVELOPE NBR (number) would be tracking information. DISP/NO FORF is disposition/no forfeiture. ER2 means a charge other than the first charge. It’s a format (NIST, if you want to know who requires it) of how the charge is submitted electronically. All it’s saying is a charge was added. In your other message you asked what GJ means. Grand Jury. If any of our readers want to add to this or correct anything, please share your knowledge. Thank you.

OK thank you so much for your help! I will be sure to spread the word on how helpful and resourceful this website is when dealing with Bexar County jail.

      • admin

Jackie – There are many reasons why that can happen. It could be from another law enforcement agency, or maybe the District Attorney felt the circumstances warranted the additional charge. Maybe someone came forward with more information.

Daniella – GLDN stands for guidelines, but we haven’t been able to find anyone who can tell us what the BE stands for. A lot of the time they make up their own abbreviations. It could stand for Bexar, but there’s no way to be sure without calling and asking.

      • admin

Sara – That’s decades old terminology. It stands for releasing cell 1 and releasing cell 2. One of the cells had females who were being processed to be released and the other had males. Many things have changed since then, but the terminology stuck.

  5. Reynaaa

What does REJ-DECLINATION mean in case events description? I know case status says closed but it doesn’t say closed because of dismissal it says closed and then the last notation is REJ-DECLINATION

    • admin

Reynaaa – According to thelawdictionary.org, which cites from Black’s Law Dictionary, Declination means: “A plea to the Jurisdiction, on the ground that the judge Is interested in the suit.” It sounds like the judge has some personal interest or connection. That could be many things such as being a friend of, or even a relative of, the person being tried or any of the attorneys. Or maybe there’s a financial interest. Anything that could cause the judge to be biased could fit in this category. We recommend you speak to the individual’s attorney to find out what is happening.

    1. Is there a way to view the efile envelopes and if so where?

    2. What does ION OF DEFENDANT mean? He was just ordered a psych eval and there’s a motion to modify a no contact order but I’m clueless on this one

    • admin

Hi, maybe someone can help me understand what these letters mean. Not sure how to even begin to ask this question since the person in jail is considered innocent until proven guilty, even though she admitted to the heinous acts against my child. She is charged with Super Aggravated Sexual Assault on a Child. She went for a psych evaluation but according to the site she was found competent. I was wondering if anyone knew what the following abbreviations mean. Thank you for your help.

    1.REFERRED TO CLM COMP DISP
    2. CASE HANDLD M.A.C. COMP DISP HRD
    3.HEARING HELD
    4.FOUND COMPETENT
5.REF BK DC TRL SET CC4

I need help understanding what BE-GDLN means? I know it stands for GUIDELINES but does that mean that my husband is not getting out because I paid the bondsman already & now it says BE-GDLN on the comments??? Does anybody know???

    • admin

Bianca – The jail tends to make up their own acronyms. It could stand for Bexar but your best bet is to contact the jail to find out what’s happening. There may be a GPS hold on him or something like that.
