Getting Warrant Information

We have been informed that the policy of not giving out warrant information has been changed under Sheriff Salazar.  Warrant information is being given out again.  We would like to extend our thanks to Sheriff Salazar for reversing the poor decision made by the Pamerleau administration.

The Bexar County Jail will release warrant information to anyone as long as the warrant is still active.  They will not give you information on warrants that have already been cleared.  Now the normal, logical person would think you should call Warrants to get warrant information but remember, this is the Bexar County Jail we are talking about. If you want warrant information you will have to call Central Records (210-335-6201).  You will need to have either a sid number or a name and date of birth for them to be able to look up the information.  They are available by phone 24/7.

I received a letter for a court date and was unable to attend due to school and forgot to call and am checking on a possible warrant under the name T**** B*******.

If a warrant does exist I am also seeking info on how much it might be $ and how to take care of it.

    Thank You

Trent – This is a private website. We are not the actual Bexar County Jail. You will need to contact the jail to see if you have an active warrant. Call Central Records at 210-335-6201. If your offense was a ticket issued by SAPD then you will have to contact them to see if you have a warrant.

My girl friend had a warrant from almost a year and no letter was sent to her saying she had a warrant..I received papers on me being a victim from domestic violence thats how I found bout her warrant ..and moone has called me back over a week ..how can I find out if she is locked up

      • admin

Rene – Call Central Records at 210-335-6201. They are a 24/7 department. You will need to give them her name and date of birth. They can tell you if she is booked into the jail.

We would like to ask our readers to help spread the word about our website. Please recommend us to people you know. Thank you.

      • Rene

Thank you ..but im thinking that the prosecuter or judge to her to have no contact with me .we wer doing good till I reacieved that letter..and now Idk wher she is at or if she is OK.

    • admin

AG – Yes. Contact the agency that the warrant is out of. For tickets, most places would rather have the money than go through the hassle of incarcerating someone. Tell them the ticket has gone to a warrant and want to know how to clear it. Do it by phone. If you go in person odds are they will arrest you.

  2. Cesar

Do you know if its mandatory for a probation officer to put out a warrant for your arrest if you catch another charge while on dwi probation (first time dwi)…. (first time assault bodily injury)being the second charge..really worried because i support a son and wife and cant afford to go to lose my job by going to jail.

    • admin

Cesar – If you get another charge while on probation you have violated your probation. A warrant will be issued. Best thing to do is contact your probation officer. Explain the situation, ask when he is going to submit the warrant so you can turn yourself in. If you do it that way you can speak to a bond company and have everything set to go so they book you in and then out. Gets you out fairly quickly.

    • admin

Mark – No. Central Records has Bexar County information. Parole violations (blue warrants) are at the state level. Central Records will not be able to tell you if there is an active blue warrant out but if the person has already been arrested they can tell you if one of those charges is a parole violation.

    • admin

James – Parole violations, also known as blue warrants, are warrants issued at the state level, TDCJ (Texas Department of Criminal Justice). This website is dedicated to information pertaining to the Bexar County jail, in other words, legal issues at the County level. We do not have the information you have requested. We recommend that you do a web search to see if you can find what you need.

  3. D.

I was suppose to report to my probation officer last week and it totally slipped my mind due to my phone and wallet stolen. Will he arrest me as soon I go in to report?

    • admin

      D. – Not necessarily. It depends on whether there is a warrant out for you yet or not. You can call Central Records at 210-335-6201 to find out if you have any active warrants. They are a 24/7 office. However, the best thing to do is contact your probation officer as soon as possible to try to straighten out this problem. You may be able to get your appointment reset. The longer you wait the more unhappy they will be with you.

  4. Ray

Is it possible to avoid being arrested if a warrant hasn’t been issued yet? Shoplifting charge is going to be filed and a warrant will be issued – according to store.

    • admin

Ray – Yes. You can try talking to the store, offer to pay for the items. Hopefully they will accept and drop the charges. If they do not, you want to contact the DA’s office. Let them know the situation. The preferred situation is to solve problems so court time and jail space are not wasted. Good luck.

  5. Barth

I have a warrant for public urination, and a warrant for open container from Austin Police Department but now reside in San Antonio. I received those in 2009 and 2012. I just realized I have a $10,000 warrant for first time DWI in Cook County (Chicago area), Illinois for $10,000 from 2005. What should I do in this case because I have an out of state warrant as well as out of town warrants? Will they just disappear after 7 years?

    • admin

Barth – The first two are tickets but don’t think that means they’ll just go away. A block can be put on your driver’s license due to unpaid tickets. The DWI definitely does not go away. If Cook County is willing to extradite (have you transported back to them) when you eventually get caught you will be arrested. You should contact an attorney for help.

  6. Tina

If I was told that i have pending cases in my criminal backround check with a potential employer but i know for sure that there should only be one conviction in my backround from back in 07′ . Who are the people that i need to contact to settle this matter

    • admin

Tina – You need to contact the agency or agencies that those cases are supposedly out of. Then you will need to go to those agencies so they can verify that those are not your cases and give you a letter saying those cases belong to someone else.

  7. selene

I had recieved a ticket from driving my brother in laws car with expirwd tags from out of state. We had resolved the issue and got texas tags and registration. Then I went to court, and the judge lowered my fine to $75. I have not been able to pay it. I was told I could have a warrant for my arrest, and it was my first offense in the state of Texas. Could I have a warrant?

    • admin

Selene – Yes, you could have a warrant but it would be out of the City of San Antonio, not Bexar County. You can call the City ticket department at 210-207-8970 or 210-207-7715 to get information. You may also be able to set up a payment plan.

  8. Crystal

my husband has a class a misdemenor contempt of court for child support he was not notified of any court dates this year and got pulled over and it was a surprise to him how long will he have to sit in there

    • admin

Crystal – The only answer we have been able to get is until he pays his child support but that doesn’t make sense. What if he can’t pay it? It’s not like they can keep him in there forever. We are going to look into this a bit more.

  9. Breanna

My boyfriend has 3 warrants out that total up to $1200. Is there away that a judge may lift the the warrants if he does a payment plan in order for him to get his id so he can work to pay them them off? He hasn’t been able to work because he has an expired id.

    • admin

Breanna – You don’t say what type of warrants they are. If they are warrants from Class C misdemeanors you may be able to get a payment plan. If they are regular charges it won’t work that way but your boyfriend can go to a bonds company to get the bond ready to go then turn himself in. This will reduce the process time significantly.

  10. Pete

I called Central Records asking about an outstanding warrant that I recently found out about. they told me they no longer give out that info over the phone. Is that correct and if so who do I call?

    • admin

Pete – You are absolutely correct. This new administration, headed by Sheriff Pamerleau, has done absolutely nothing to help family and friends of inmates or the general public to get information easier. In fact, they seem to have gone out of their way to make it harder. We haven’t found anything that says warrant information is confidential. How can it be when all kinds of agencies put out wanted posters and lists of wanted people and what they are wanted for? No, they will tell you to come in for that information then they will arrest you. That does not give someone the chance to have a bond set up in advance so they can be processed quickly. If they are concerned about over-crowding they should let people have the bond part already done so the booking process is done as quickly as possible.

  11. Shandralynn

Bexar County no longer gives out warrant information. You have to contact an attorney or bondsmen in order to get that information. 🙁 I just called and asked to get information for myself, but they said they no longer give that info out. Grrrrr….

    • admin

Shandralynn – That is correct. The policy has been changed under Sheriff Pamerleau. The attorney of a client has a right to any information regarding his client but there isn’t anything like that for bondsmen. If the bondsmen, who are no different from the general public, can get the information why can’t the the general public get it? It sure sounds like a lazy way to try to arrest people. And it’s very discouraging for people who want to get their warrant taken care of but need the information to be able to do it.

  12. Rob

What is a Promotion of Gambling? Is this a felony or misdemeanor? If I have a Bexar County job, will I lose it because of this charge?

    • admin

Rob – We just copied the penal code for you:

Sec. 47.03. GAMBLING PROMOTION. (a) A person commits an offense if he intentionally or knowingly does any of the following acts:

      (1) operates or participates in the earnings of a gambling place;

      (2) engages in bookmaking;

      (3) for gain, becomes a custodian of anything of value bet or offered to be bet;

      (4) sells chances on the partial or final result of or on the margin of victory in any game or contest or on the performance of any participant in any game or contest or on the result of any political nomination, appointment, or election or on the degree of success of any nominee, appointee, or candidate; or

      (5) for gain, sets up or promotes any lottery or sells or offers to sell or knowingly possesses for transfer, or transfers any card, stub, ticket, check, or other device designed to serve as evidence of participation in any lottery.

      (b) An offense under this section is a Class A misdemeanor.

Will you be fired? Possibly. Some areas may give you a chance since it is a non-violent crime. I imagine a lot depends on what your job is.

  13. lettilynn

Is there an online list to look at to see if I have a warrant from Bexar county? I’ve looked at all the city and county websites but have found nothing.. please help if possible, thanks!!

    • admin

Lettilynn – Sorry, there is not a website that gives that information and the current sheriff, Sheriff Pamerleau, has made what we believe to be a bad decision by no longer allowing that information to be released to the public.

  14. Terri

I agree.. information about warrants should be allowed to the public. They make every effort to ‘find you’ when it comes to be arrested but not for a warrant. They have your current address on your DL and car registration but the warrant.. IF it gets mailed at all.. goes to whatever address they choose. I think they do it on purpose. I’ve known many people that never got notified of a warrant. Now (I was told this by a constable) they have a device that scans license plates, so they are going to the malls etc. scanning plates for outstanding warrants and arrest you there.

  15. nana

I have a question my son is in probation but he wanted to get transfer to another state to change his life but probation officer didn’t approve it but still left doing way better found a great job and paying his child support but they deceided to bring him back now hes waiting for court hes incarceration what are my son chance s

    • admin

Nana – That is totally up to the judge. Leaving after being told by your probation officer not to leave isn’t the wisest choice.

  16. Marion

My son has warrants for 11 traffic violations in Bexar Co .. he and his baby mama of 3 children got into it and she went to the hospital and said he beat her ..he in now on Jefferson Co !!! we need to know if there is a warrant for his arrest on the assault and how can we resolve this and about how much time will he have to do !!
Thank you in advance .. very helpful website !!

    • admin

Marion – The Bexar County jail used to give out information on warrants. It is public information but under Sheriff Pamerleau they are no longer giving out the information. We think this is a disservice to the community. They are telling people to call a bonds company or an attorney to get information about active warrants.

  17. Erin

If I contact a probation officer for questions regarding a case I have against my daughters father, can she get me information about a possible warrant on another person? The person is my ex’s brother and I just found out my daughter is in contact with him. I am very upset about this because the charges I believe were filed against him (The possible warrant) were very VERY violent and against my daughters father. Would she be able to get that info for me or does it fall under the cover every ones butt clause about warrants??

    • admin

Erin – Believe me we understand your frustration. We firmly feel that Sheriff Pamerleau made a decision that was against the best interest of the general public when she stopped the release of warrant information. We don’t know that she personally made the decision but as the Sheriff, the main person in charge, the responsibility is hers. In our experience probation officers are even more tight-lipped than the people at the jail. You could try submitting an open records request. You won’t get an immediate answer since there is an established timeline but you should get something. We suggest you got to the category “Understanding the System”. Once there click on the link titled “Open Records Request”. Once there go to the third paragraph and click on the link called “P.I.A. training video”. That video put out by the Attorney General gives very good information on your rights.

  18. Adrian

I don’t think its right that Sheriff Pamerleau doesn’t let people find out if they active warrants anymore and I wish there was something we can do to change it. I think I have a warrant for my arrest rite now but there is know way of me finding out. I just started a great new job and can’t afford to lose it so I can keep paying my bills so If I contact a bondsman will he be able to find out if I have a warrant in order to setup a bond for me so I can go turn myself in and get out without missing work?

    • admin

Adrian – As far as the bondsman, yes, they can get the information and get it all handled in advance so you can turn yourself in on your day off and not miss work. As far as the Sheriff is concerned, we are deeply disappointed with the extent to which she has made things harder for the family and friends of incarcerated individuals and for the general public. We recommend you remember the problems this administration caused when the 2014 elections come around.

  19. AB89

I found out I have a warrant since 2009 for my arrest for missing court. I found out through an investigation while trying to get a secret clearance for my job. I am trying to resolve the warrant. The fine for the charge has been paid. But the warrant is still active because I did not attend court. I’ve contacted the Courthouse and they said I have to turn myself in to clear the warrant. The problem is I no longer reside in Texas. I’ve have legal representation contacted the prosecuting attorney but I think there is another way of clearing the warrant than turning myself in. The charge is disposed, so the warrant should be also, if not what is the necessary course of action I must take to clear myself so I can get a clearance for my job?

    • admin

AB89 – It would help to know what the charge is. If it was just a ticket that you had to pay a fine on then you would need to contact the arresting agency to find out why there is still a warrant out on you. It it was something higher than a ticket then the penalty is more than just a fine.

    • admin

Ashley – Call the District Attorney’s office and ask for the Hot Check section. They will be able to help you.

  20. 5964

I used to live in San Antonio for 17 yrs. I moved to another city and was looking for work and they did a background check on me and I was told I had a warrant “Theft by Check” issued on me by Bexar county
how can I clear this up and have it taken off my record?
    I didn’t even know I had a returned check.
But this has cost me an very important job and I really need to get this off my record. Please advise how I can get this removed from my personal records.

    • admin

5964 – Contact the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office at 210-335-2311. Ask for the hot check section. They will be able to help you.

  21. kali

i was the co signer to get someone out of jail and they never went to their court date and never paid the rest of the bond does this mean i have a warrent out or wht happends to me?? im going to michigan on the 29th so i dont want anything to happen when im at the airport and my kids see me get takin away or something you no?? someone please lmk asap so i can get this all figured out!! thank you

    • admin

Kali – That’s between you and the bond company. The county does not issue warrants out for bond co-signers. The bonds company will probably keep your money.

  22. Andy

It’s probably something to it…but I called to see if I had a warrant because I was just going to be dropped off and turn myself in…rather than drive down there, get arrested, get my car towed..only to get back out…compiling a situation….smh…oh well, they wil make money off of both I guess…

    • admin

Andy – We think it’s ignorant not to give out warrant information over the phone so people can get things taken care of in the way you intended to do it. Unfortunately the jail under Sheriff Pamerleau has become extremely unfriendly to those trying to do what they can to get their situation taken care of.

  23. nikki

If I didn’t pay a parking ticket, didn’t go to court and my csr got towed will I have a Warrent for my arrest? Can I just go in and pay my ticket?

    • admin

Nikki – Call whatever agency you got the tickets with. Speak to their department that handles tickets to set up a way to handle it. They would rather have the money than arrest you but if you just go without setting something up first they might arrest you.

    • admin

Mlp – That is correct. Sheriff Pamerleau’s administration has stopped giving that information. We consider this to be a great disservice to the community. That information is not required to be confidential. We hope everyone remembers this come next election.

    • admin

Henry – The current sheriff has stopped the release of warrant information. We feel this is a disservice to the community but the only way that can be fixed is at the ballot box. For now you will need to call a bonds company to have them check for you.

    • admin

Hate – You don’t. Warrant information is public information and was always given out but under Sheriff Pamerleau that has changed. We mentioned several times that we feel she is doing an injustice to the citizens of Bexar County. All we can say is remember this at election time.

  24. TINA

My boyfriendhas beenarrested for several traffic warrants-from Bexar Co.- by Prct.4 and is being taken to Bexar Co. Jail. He is indigent due to being unemployed, since he could not get a job without a current and valid I.D. Will the Court make him sit the tickets out because he is unemployed or put him on a payment plan that he won’t be able to pay without a valid I.D. and job? If they give him a payment plan, can he then go get his I.D. renewed so he can get a job?
    Thank you,
    Tina

    • admin

Tina – We wish we could answer this for you but we have no idea what the judge will decide to do. He needs an attorney.

  25. shawntel

My husband was on plan and they gave him six months to pay the ticket, which he went in feb so he should have until aug to pay,but they send him a letter and said he had until june 16 to complete the court recommended but he dont have a id to go to / work so he can only pay wat he can pay

  26. lee

Where can I check to see if I have any warrants I need to renew my license last time I went in I got arrested for somebody else’s warrant

    • admin

Lee – Sorry but the current sheriff is not releasing that information. It can be released to the public and was done so by past administrations but she chose not to. We feel it is a disservice to the general public and hurts people in all kinds of circumstances. For instance, yours.

  27. Tammy

Well I called that number and I was told to contact an attorney or a bondsman to find out if there was a warrant. Why would they even give me 5he time of day I have paid them nothing. Can anyone just give me the information. It’s a simple question. YES or NO

    • admin

Tammy – Previous administrations have released this information. It is not confidential. The current sheriff chose not to release it. We consider it a disservice to the public.

  28. Randy

If someone is in violation of their probation and turns themselves in, do they have to pay the bond? Since they have to be checked in to the jail will the record of the arrest be online with the rest?

    • admin

Randy – You’re missing some information for us. If it’s a PR bond he didn’t pay anything in the first place except a processing fee. If it’s a bond company, that’s a contract with them. They are private companies so you will have to contact them to see what their rules are. If he is arrested then his booking will be online for the two weeks period that is displayed.

  29. skie

I have a warrant since last year i was on a program where i have to see a probation officer and do community hours but i was homeless and i wasnt able to do what i was suppose to my warrant is for theft a misdemeanor will i be able to pay without been arrested

    • admin

Skie – Probably not. Contact a bail bond company to see if a bond is listed and if everything can be set up in advance so once you turn yourself in it should be fairly quick to get you back out again.

  30. Nathan

I also have been trying to contact the court in San antonio and no one answers . I live out of state and I need to see if I can pay the public urination ticket over the phone but I lost the ticket . Does any one know what I should do ???

  31. ashley

I just called the central records dept. And they said they no longer give out warrent warrant information over the phone anymore and that I would have to go through a bails bondsman or a lawyer

    • admin

Ashley – Yes. Our section about warrants gives that information. The current Sheriff’s administration changed the process. We feel it’s a disservice to the community.

  32. Rhony

I was going to court and paying on a hot check and I never ever missed. Well last Thursday I was due to go to court and I didn’t because of health issues so my attorney was asking for a reset well she text me and said cc14 wouldn’t reset me because apparently there is 2 felonie arrest warrants for checks and forgery. Woah!!! Forgery?? Im lost. Please tell me who to contact.

    • admin

Rhony – Well you really should have asked your attorney when you had her on the phone. She is the one that is working in your best interest. But since that is done you can try calling the D.A.’s office at 210-335-2311 then ask to be transferred to the hot check section.

  33. Amy

If i have traffic warrants in three other counties that total over two thousand dollars. Can i still go to dps office in bexar county were i reside and get a new id? Mine expired and i can’t work to obtain any money without an id.

  34. Derek

It’s all about money, you can’t get info without hiring a lawyer or a bondsmen they are just looking out for each other and helping all their lawyer buddies make money.. Its that simple

  35. Gil

I have two sid numbers. I am in court for charges. Problem is warrant comes out two days before I show up. Confused because had three attorneys and still didn’t get jury trial that I requested. Contacted internal affairs, Texas Rangers, Bexar county CID,and FBI. No joke. No one cares.

    • admin

Gil – You have two Bexar County sid numbers? If so, contact Central Records at 210-335-6201. You should not have two sid numbers. They can look into it to see about getting it corrected.

    • admin

Corey – They will arrest you when you go to apply for it. You need to get that warrant taken care of.

We would like to ask our readers to help spread the word about our website. Please recommend us to people you know. Thank you.

  36. Julian

Hi and first and foremost thank you for the help you provide.

So when I call the records number they say they only give out the information to lawyers and bonds people.

Are they for real? I am checking if I have a warrant and they only give out that info to the people that make money off me.

Is that right? just curious about your thoughts.

    • admin

Julian – Are they doing that again? Yes, warrant information is public information. I think that was ruled on by the Attorney General’s Office in 2005 if I’m remembering correctly. Sorry, it’s been a long time since I looked it up. A bad decision was made under the Pamerleau administration not to release the information. When Salazar took over they started releasing the information again. We actually gave him credit for doing the right thing.

I guess it’s not surprising that he has changed his mind. We now know that he obviously doesn’t know what he’s doing and is taking advice from people who are as clueless as he is. The problem is, it’s hard for the average person to fight against people like the sheriff. I suggest you try calling and asking to speak to a supervisor just in case the person who refused to give you the information didn’t get it right. Maybe, just maybe it was the phone person making a mistake. If they did go back to refusing to give information you could try complaining to the District Attorney’s Office. I’m not sure if that will do any good but it can’t hurt.

We would like to ask our readers to help spread the word about our website. Please recommend us to people you know. Thank you.
