Food Gift Packages – iCare

The Sheriff’s Office is trying a new program that allows families to purchase meals and gift baskets for inmates.  According to Sheriff Ortiz, inmates will only be allowed to get these meals 2 – 3 times a week and it is a privilege that can be taken away.  This encourages inmates to follow the Jail regulations so that they don’t lose their ability to receive these packages.  It also allows the family to do something special for an inmate.  The inmate’s family and friends can show they are thinking of him on his birthday, holidays, special occasions or can send something just to show they care.

The program has two financial benefits for the jail.  The first is that they make .29 cents on each dollar and the second is that they save money by not having to provide a meal.

You will need the inmates sid number before you get started.

Be sure to read the information including the Terms & Conditions.  There are several things you will want to know like credit card payments taking up to 24 hours to process, that there is a no refund policy, medical diet problems and more.

    I HAVE HAD SO. MUCH TROUBLE WITH THE PEOPLE AT I CARE.IT HAS BEEN
    11 DAYS NOW AND MY SON STILL HAS NOT RECIEVED HIS PACKAGE THAT
    COST $72 .THE LADY SUPERVISOR IS SO RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL AND
    WILL NOT GIVE ME HER NAME. HOW DO I FIND OUT WHO IS IN CHARGE OF
    HER.I WILL NEVER DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY AGAIN.BETTER TO DEPOSIT
    MONEY IN COMISSARY.SO DISSAPOINTED.

    Mae – We always recommend that people who are having problems contact the Sheriff’s Office to complain. iCare is handled by Aramark. Aramark has a contract with the County to provide those services. You need to let the Sheriff’s Office know what a bad job iCare is doing so the situation can be addressed.

    I have had the same problem as Mae. I ordered a Sandwich for my son approximately 3 weeks ago and he still has not received it inspite of phone calls, complaints, emails etc. to customer service. I have requested a refund and they still have not refunded my money. This is the worst customer service I have ever had to deal with. I will definitley notify The Sheriffs Office of the lousy job they are doing and report them to the Better Business Bureau and whoever else I may have to. I am sorry I ever ordered anything from them….BUYERS BEWARE…..

    Laura – We always recommend complaints of this nature be brought to the Sheriff’s attention. The companies that handle things like the iCare package and the phone service are private vendors. They have a contract and obligations they are supposed to meet. If those are not being met the Sheriff needs to know.

    I HAD PURCHASED A PACKAGE FOR MY HUSBAND & HE DIDNT GET IT ON TIME EITHER.HE THEN CAME OUT A FEW DAYS LATER SO WE ASKED FOR A REFUND BUT WAS TOLD IT WASNT POSSIBLE BUT FOR US TO GO PICK UP HIS PACKAGE @ THE MAIN JAIL, SO WHEN WE GET THERE THE SHERIFFS COULDNT GET A HOLD OF THE ARAMARK PEOPLE EITHER THE SHERIFF TOLD US TO GO BACK @ A LATER TIME TO TRY AGAIN BUT THE 2ND TIME WASNT ANY BETTER EITHER. HE EVEN PAGED THEM OVER THE INTERCOM & THEY NEVER RESPONDED IN THE HOUR THAT WE WAITED.I WAS GIVEN A NUMBER TO CALL THEM BUT NERVER GOT ANSWERED, IT IS A RIP OFF IF U ASK ME! I HATE USING THEM AS A SOURCE TO SEND OUR LOVED ONE A REMINDER OF OUR LOVE & DONT PLAN ON USING THEM ANYMORE, BESIDES THE PACKAGE ISNT AS PRETTY OR AS ACURRATE AS THE PICTURE THAT ARE SHOWN TO US. IVE BEEN TOLD THAT ITS JUST THROWN TOGETHER IN A BAG & IF THEY DONT HAVE AVAILIABLE WHAT COMES IN THE PACKAGE THEN THEY JUST THROW A SUBSTITE IN THERE THAT IS LESS THAN ITS SUPPOSED TO BE.     I sent a $77.00 icare package to a family member at Bexar County and everything was stale. I will not purchase from them again

    I sent icare packing on Tues and now its Saturday already I try to talk to somebody and there is never know one to answer it who can I talk to about this already I sent it Tues for him to get it before the weekend because of the food in thete are ya every on time I need to know who to talk they are not doing there job right

    Lsie – We are not the Bexar County jail. We are a private website that attempts to help people deal with the jail system. We have absolutely no affiliation with them and we maintain this website (and others) in our off time since we all have full-time jobs. We do the best we can but sometimes there are long periods of time in between our answers. Your previous post was 3 minutes before this current post but we normally attempt to put out posts that help people. We get a massive amount of comments and yes, if there is no value in a post, it’s just a person wanting to vent in an ugly way, we don’t publish the post. If you’ll read the other comments you’ll see that we do let people make negative comments.
