Depositing Funds on the Internet

Funds can be added to an inmate’s commissary from the internet.  You will need to have the inmate’s first and last name, his sid number and the Facility locator number.  The Facility locator number is 278201.  You can get the sid number from Central Records.  Once you have all the information you are going to need go to the Touchpay Portal to process your deposit.  Information can be viewed in English or in Spanish.  According to the Touchpay site the funds will usually be deposited immediately but they do say in some cases it’s possible that it may take up to 24 hours.  I think that’s to cover any computer issues that might happen.

According to the Banking department at the Bexar County jail, there is no limit on how much money can be in an inmate’s commissary account.  If you have any problems with your Touchpay account you can contact Touchpay support at 1-866-204-1603.  You can also contact their customer service department at 1-866-232-1899, option 1 or extension 2009 and 2010.  Or you can contact them online at customer support.  This link takes you to a page that looks like it only gives information but on the left side of the screen is a tab that says Contact Us that will take you to a window that allows you to send an email or click on our Contact Us link to go straight to it.

I need to know how I am able to see the balance in an innmates’ comissary account? I understand the monetary limitations, but would like to see an itemized purchase from the account so that I will be ble to deposit in other sites such as, ICARE. Will I be able to purchase an ICARE as well as deposit funds into the account, on the same day? This would be such helpful informations since as of this date there is nothing addressing this matter. Thank you for your time in answering my questions.

  • admin  On November 26, 2010 at 6:18 am

I was informed that you are not allowed to see the balance on an inmate’s commissary account. You can’t get a summary of purchases either. The inmate can ask for a summary of expenditures and deposits but that request has to come from the inmate. You might be able to get the list of items purchased through Aramark which is the company that handles the cooked food and the commissary but since they acted like it was a national secret when I tried to get the commissary prices I doubt they’ll help you. An open records request may work for both of these things if you don’t mind waiting a couple of weeks for the answer.

Also, you can purchase iCare packages and deposit funds to an account on the same day. The answers to your questions were obtained from the Banking department at the Bexar County Jail.

  • Rita  On October 15, 2011 at 4:39 am

I need a wesite to send a love one an icare package but to the central Texas Detention Center,is there a way I could send him one

  • admin  On October 17, 2011 at 1:44 am

Rita – I’m not exactly sure who you mean. When you say the Central Texas Detention Center do you mean GEO? Well, I guess it really doesn’t matter. No matter who the facility is you will need to contact them to ask if they participate in the iCare program. If they do they will be able to give you their facility number to process an iCare order. Once you have that you can use the regular iCare website, just pick the correct facility.

I have attempted to send money via/touchpay/ internet after several hours of trying I was never able to access , reason being that address did not match name on card, which it did. I was unable to send money.

  • admin  On October 29, 2011 at 7:16 pm

  • Claire  On December 13, 2011 at 4:37 am

How is the inmate notified I am making a deposit for her? How long does it take for inmates to be notified of funds deposited for them?

  • admin  On December 21, 2011 at 5:52 am

Claire – Sorry for the delay in my answer. A copy of the receipt is sent to the inmate. He/she will receive it no later than by the next day.

  • John Forster  On February 7, 2012 at 4:37 pm

The icare system is a ” RIPOFF” I tryed to give a couple Icare packages thru there system and found out you can only give one gift at a time. That means they charge there 5.99 gift fee every time, big rip off. You send inmate package of twenty dollars worth of food and they charge you 20% every time.

To be charged convenience fee one time per order should be plenty for these money grubbing basterds should be fine.

I have been trying for 2 days to send my daughter some money. The touch pay site is a mess. I coulnt not get my payment to go through than they charged me a dallor and when I called that # to pay by phone it said the account was supended. Ok so I tried that # for customer service and left 2 messages and no response. I’m in houston almost 3hrs away and can’t seem to get any help. Any advice cause this has givin me a real bad headack.

  • admin  On July 13, 2012 at 5:42 am

Ladyll – You might want to call the Banking department to report the problem. That number is 210-335-6287. They can’t fix the problem since it is a private company that is handling it but they can report the problem to the jail administration. As far as getting money into your daughter’s account you can send a money order. That goes directly to the Banking department, not through a private company.

Hi im trying to deposit money to my brothers account but i dont know where to start or what to do can u help me?

  • admin  On October 18, 2012 at 5:06 am

Ericel – Well you’re posting from the page that explains how to do it so I guess that means you have questions that we haven’t answered for you. I suggest you call the Banking department at the jail for additional help. They are 24/7. You can call them at 210-335-6287.

  • REBECCA  On October 30, 2012 at 5:55 pm

  • admin  On October 31, 2012 at 6:09 am

Rebecca – We are a private site. We are not the Bexar County Jail. But even the jail does not handle the iCare program. That is a private company. Go to category “Special Programs” and in that category click on “Food Gift Packages – iCare”, it will give you contact information for iCare.

If I made a payment to Bexar County TX why does my bank statement show as Irving TX?

  • admin  On April 3, 2013 at 12:37 am

MLD – We have no idea what you are talking about. Bexar County, Texas encompasses a lot of agencies. You will need to be more specific.

any one out there knows if its safe to send money on this site? How will my son kn if he has money? He called me & gave me his sid # & told me 2 send money on the web! HELP

  • admin  On August 9, 2013 at 6:11 pm

Pat – We do not take money on this website. We provide the link to the website that the Bexar County Jail uses. We also give information on different methods that can be used to deposit money. Go to the category Money For Commissary. There are several options there that you can use if using a website makes you nervous.

  • Michelle  On January 17, 2014 at 10:46 pm

Can I send things like books and other items to my brother who is in GEO. I already order him food through Icare and deposit money with touch pay but would like to know if we can send care packages directly to them as Icare is very expensive for the little bit they get. I understand it is a privilege and they are lucky to be able to get anything but I would like to make it worth my money.

  • admin  On January 21, 2014 at 1:11 am

Michelle – We deal solely with the Bexar County jail. You need to contact GEO to find out what their policies are.

  • George  On January 23, 2014 at 10:22 pm

I have been putting money in commissary for my grandson for the last several months. Recently I have been unable to sign on to the touchpayonline from my home computer. when I run a diagnostic check it tells me the problem is with the touchpay site. I can sign on from my work computer with no problem but it is not always convenient to do that. Is there some thing on your site that rejects some computers but not others? I tried to make a deposit by phone tonight but that requires a different account number than the online service and I don’t have one of those…I sign on with my email address online. The office is closed so I can’t get whatever number it is I need. I appreciate your service to be able to make these deposits, but it needs some attention. There are some very frustrating aspects to it.

  • admin  On February 8, 2014 at 2:22 am

George – We are not the actual Bexar County jail. We are an unofficial site set up to help people because the system is so difficult to maneuver through. What we can tell you is that touchpay is a private company that contracts with the jail. You will need to contact them to see if they can help you with your problem. Go to our category “Money For Commissary” then click on the link titled “Depositing Funds on the Internet”. There are some contact options on that page.

  • michele  On March 14, 2014 at 12:42 pm

does anyone know how to track an order that in inmate has purchased from commissary and still not received 2wks later??? she has 2 packages that still have not been delivered and the first package was purchased back on the 3rd of march!

  • admin  On March 21, 2014 at 3:39 pm

Michele – If it was a commissary order she did not receive she can file a grievance. The paperwork is in her living unit. But you are saying packages. I suspect you mean iCare. If that is correct then that is a separate thing. iCare is a private company. You will need to contact them to find out what the problem is.

  • Sheila  On April 20, 2014 at 8:31 pm

I tried putting money on inmates commisary and it rejects payment with Declined because AVS mismatch, what does AVS mean?

  • admin  On April 28, 2014 at 4:28 am

Sheila – AVS stands for Address Verification System. AVS mismatch means that the address provided at checkout did not match the billing address of the cardholder

  • Greg  On May 27, 2014 at 9:03 pm

I have sent touch pay an email on this topic as well, with no response yet. But, my question is this. My nephew is remanded back to Bexar County from a TDC unit. If he has any unused funds in his Bexar County Jail Commissary account. Will the remainder be refunded back to my card, will it be transferred to his TDC Commissary account (with TDC SID number) or will the remaining funds just be lost? thanks

  • admin  On June 10, 2014 at 2:38 am

Greg – If there is money in his account a check will be cut for him and it will go with him to TDC to be placed in an account there for him.

  • Alyssa  On June 23, 2014 at 2:59 am

Can i put money into his account in person as in not online because I don’t have a debit card handy ?

  • admin  On June 27, 2014 at 5:08 am

Alyssa – You can put money into the kiosk that is just inside the front doors of the jail. It also takes credit cards and debit cards.

  • Samantha Marie  On August 14, 2014 at 8:44 pm

How can I find out if my husband recieved the money I sent through touchpay is there a number I can call

  • admin  On August 20, 2014 at 3:15 am

Samantha Marie – Call Banking at 210-335-6287. My understanding is that they don’t give out account information but some of our posters have said they will. It can’t hurt to try.

  • Shelly  On August 30, 2014 at 7:09 pm

I put money on my husbands commissary and they told him that he won’t have access to any of those funds due to him being sent to a treatment center where they done have commissary. How do I go about getting my funds back.

  • admin  On September 5, 2014 at 2:37 pm

Shelly – Contact the Banking department at 210-335-6287. They will be able to tell you what to do.

  • Perla  On October 11, 2014 at 5:48 pm

Where do I find the facility locator number for the Bexar county jail?

  • admin  On October 18, 2014 at 12:33 am

Perla – The post that you left a comment on has it in bold type in the post. That number is 278201.

  • Laura  On December 21, 2014 at 8:26 am

Is It true that if i ordered 3 icare packages they will be delivered one at a time?

  • admin  On January 2, 2015 at 1:36 am

Laura – No. In fact we’ve heard that they are doing them in partial orders part. Half the first go round then the other half the next delivery time. We are looking into this to try to get more information.

  • sandra  On February 7, 2015 at 10:29 pm

  • admin  On February 21, 2015 at 1:17 am
