Depositing Funds by Telephone & Internet

The Bexar County Jail uses Touchpay. Funds can be added to an inmate’s commissary by telephone and the internet.  You will need to know the state (Texas) the jail is in, the name of the facility (Bexar County Adult Detention Center) and the inmate’s sid number.  They are no longer using a facility number. You can get the sid number from Central Records.  Once you have all the information you are going to need call 1-866-345-1884 to process your deposit.  Information can be given in English or in Spanish.  According to the Touchpay site the funds will usually be deposited immediately but they do say in some cases it’s possible that it may take up to 24 hours.  I think that’s to cover any computer issues that might happen.

According to the Banking department, there is no limit on how much money can be in an inmate’s commissary account.  If you have any problems with your Touchpay account you can contact Touchpay support at 1-866-345-1884.

Angelica – If you use the kiosk or the internet there is a fee because a private company handles those. If you send a money order straight to Banking at the jail there is no fee.

I know the SID and name, how do I find out the Facility locator number. The person also was just sentenced, will they be staying in Bexar county jail or be moved to a different facilty (term is 6mo.)

I do not know what services the “commisary” provides; can’t find it anywhere. Is this where inmates have to buy personal hygiene items or are these provided by the jail system? Thank you.

Lala – Go to the category titled “Commissary”. Once there you will find all kinds of items that commissary carries. The lists may be a little outdated. We had a really hard time getting even that much information from the jail since they claim it does not fall under the open records act. I have my doubts about that. Still, the lists should be pretty representative of what is offered. Commissary is the extra. All inmates receive basic food and hygiene items.

Jeanette – Touchpay makes you set up an account first. That’s how they keep track of how much money is being used and what is left. Have you set up an account yet?

Dian – We’re not sure what number you are referring to. We’re a little confused because we give the facility locator number in the information that is on the page you posted from so we’re wondering if there is a different number they asked for if maybe you just missed that number.

I meant to put money on my brothers book and put it on the wrong place. I put it in money for self release. Is there anyway I can transfer the money to commissary account. I have been calling the customer service number but I end up waiting for long periods of time then it just hanks up. Is there any other number I can call to get help in this matter??

Sonny – Thank you for letting us know. We looked into it and found that the process has changed. A facility number is no longer needed. All you need is to know what state the jail is in, the name of the jail and the inmate’s sid number. We have updated out website.

Joyce – Last we had heard, there was no limit as to how much funds could be added to an inmate’s commissary. But even if they have changed that, it’s not like a regular bank account. It’s only for costs that occur in the jail such as medical expenses, reimbursement for damages the inmate have caused, and naturally, commissary items. They can’t pay their attorney out of it.

my bf was in Guadalupe jail when i put money on his commissary and he then was transferred to bexar county next day. will he still have access or can i change county online?

    • admin

Stefanie – I believe his property, including his money, gets transferred with him. You need to contact the Banking section to make sure this is the case. If not, Guadalupe probably holds it until he, or his representative, can go pick it up, probably in the form of a county check.

I was wondering if the inmate knows who sent them commissary? I was planning to send money into their account online.
Do they get a receipt on who sent the money or will they be notified on who sent the money?
