Calls from the Living Unit

Once an inmate is assigned to a unit he will have to follow the standard rules.  Phone calls are 15 minutes long.  When the time is up the phone will automatically disconnect.  There is no limit on the number of phone calls an inmate can make.  There used to be phone lists so the officers would know whose turn was next but more phones were added by the jail so inmates rarely have to wait to make a call.

Phone calls can be made by the inmate during normal day room hours which are usually from 8:00 am – 9:00 pm.  No phone calls are allowed to be made during meal time, commissary deliver and laundry exchange.  Inmates can only make collect calls.  They cannot receive calls into the Bexar County Jail.

Star – If you mean when an inmate tries calling someone, then it’s usually that the person who has the number asked for it to be blocked. If they change phone numbers and someone else ends up with that number, the block will still be blocked with ICSolutions. Call ICSolutions to find out why a call is not coming through. They will be able to tell you if there is a block on the number.

The answer is correct the sooner you call the sooner the block is removed if it isn’t you must recall ICSolutions till it’s removed. They’ll remove the block since this company robs inmates of money if your in other jails outside bexar county it’s only $2.50 maximum for 20 to 30 minutes

Luna – Inmates get unlimited free calls while they are in the booking process. Once an inmate is assigned to a unit, they no longer get free calls.

My son is in the Bexar County Jail. I set up a fund through ICSolutions, a collect call fund. I noticed that they also have a debit account you can set up for collect calls.
    1.) what is the difference?
When I contacted ICSolutions, I was told Bexar County Jail dosen’t have a debit account, but yet it’s a choice.
If I set up a collect call fund, will the inmate be able to call any number?

Sandra – ICSolutions doesn’t only work with Bexar County. Other agencies may use that function even if Bexar County chose not to. If ICSolutions tells you that Bexar County doesn’t allow debit accounts, I would just go with what they say.

Hello I set up a prepaid account with Icsolutions so my husband call keep in contact. However he wants to talk to his dad that lives in another state and can’t afford to set up his own account. I have tried to set one up for him that I would add funds too. The problem is he has a landline phone that I am unable to get verified. Can my husband buy phone time from the commissary onsite if I add money to his account. Do they allow inmates to make direct phone calls from jail if it’s not a prepaid collect call?

Vickie – No, they cannot use their commissary to pay for phone calls. I recommend you contact ICSolutions to see what options they have that can help you.

Jesusa – You can send a letter or when you next speak to the inmate you can inform him then that you have added additional funds. There isn’t another way.

I was told by an inmate that Bexar county Adult detention center offer’s two free phone calls a week now,but only on Sunday. Is this true or a rumor?

    • admin

Jesus – When a person is first arrested they are allowed two free phone calls. I doesn’t matter what day it is. They have the ability to make those two free calls until they get booked. Once they are assigned to a location, they have to follow the normal phone call policies.

Yes, my boyfriend is in Bexar County Adult Detention Center right now. They do after booking receive two free phone calls per week. They can use them whenever they want and can in that given week.

My phone says Prison/jail or +1 (210) 247-0093 but until I saved that number in my contacts, it wouldn’t notify me about the call until it was a missed call. I still have yet to make a contact with a fiancé. It’s been two weeks.

      • Jennifer

Thank you for the information. How long has your fiance been there. I know that when my husband first went that he didn’t call for 3 weeks maybe closer to 4

Jennifer – You need to call the Banking section to see why you are having problems.
