Woman Arrested for Not Giving Her ID to Metro Cop

On Tuesday, August 21, Minneapolis Metro Officer Tim Lawrence was caught on video pinning a woman to the side of a bus stop.  The details of the arrest have been all over the internet but are being reported as the woman being arrested for not showing her I.D. faster enough.  It doesn’t seem that’s the full story.  The arrested woman called the bus driver a derogatory term.  While being taken off the bus she repeated her abuse of the bus driver.  She then produced her I.D. upon request but would not give it to the officer.

What the woman did was wrong but the officer’s handling of the situation only made matters worse.  Rather than try to talk the woman down and get her to willingly hand over her I.D. the officer chose to resort to force.  The woman’s arm was twisted up behind her back, she was taken to the ground, another officer ran up and held a taser against the woman’s back, without deploying it, to make the woman comply.  The really pathetic part is Officer Lawrence was named Officer of the Year in 2017.  It this is what they consider a good officer I would hate to see what a bad officer is.  View the full article here.
