07/27/2012 – Two Police Dogs Die in SUV

Two police dogs, one of which was a narcotics dog, were accidentally left over night in their cages in the back of a sheriff’s SUV.  Deputy Steve Benoy who had custody of the dogs, drove home, went inside to get his items for an over night trip and left, forgetting to put the dogs into their kennels.  When he returned the next day he saw that the dogs were not in their kennel, checked the SUV and found the bodies of the dogs.  Benoy is currently on administrative leave while the incident is investigated.

How can your statement be ‘inadvertent accident’ with a straight face? This is sheer negligence and lack of leadership. You let the same incident 2yrs ago get swept away and this is the result of lack of attention to detail and discipline. You have now MURDERED THREE of our Taxpayer’s Finest. YOU HAVE KILLED YOUR OWN! This time, it’s all over the Internet and the animal welfare links nationally and INTERNATIONALLY. You have brought shame to our City and to yourselves. “Inadvertent accident” — ok, that’s the excuse we can all use if we run a stop sign then? Or is your Deputy above the law, again? People are just fed up.
At the very least- you have just lost my vote, Sheriff Ortiz. Your attitude is cavalier and arrogant–DISGUSTING! You need to have your law enforcement license yanked. You can’t even control your dog handlers, for God’s sakes! Tell your Deputy Benoy he owes us about $40,000 for each of those dogs. They died a HORRIFIC Death! Like you care. Well, we plan on putting it into money and votes. Yea- make sure you sit at Mass this Sunday and pray about it. Pathetic cowardly good old boy coverup? Nope. Not this time, Sir!

Anna – To begin with, this is a private website. We are not in any way affiliated with the Bexar County jail. I understand how upset you are but I rather doubt that the sheriff reads this website so your message is more than likely not getting to him. On a side note, we were able to find out that the officer involved in the previous incident no longer works for the Sheriff’s Office.

THIS IS HORRIBLE. THIS IS SO UNACCEPTABLE! AS I WAS READING ABOUT ALL THE BAD NEWS… I REALLY HOPE AND PRAY THIS PLACE GETS NEW LEADERSHIP, NEW EMPLOYEES…. WORDS JUST CANNOT EXPRESS HOW HORRIBLE IT MUST HAVE BEEN FOR THOSE PRECIOUS DOGS. … AND I REALLY HOPE THAT INCOMPETENT, UNRELIABLE, AIR HEAD NEVER FORGETS WHAT A HORRIBLE AND CRUEL ACT HE DID! I REALLY HOPE HE IS NOT ALLOWED NEAR ANY ANIMALS BECAUSE HE IS A BRAINLESS PATHETIC IDIOT!
