Reality Check

There is so much disinformation out that people don’t know what to think anymore. We’ve decided to periodically throw out some random facts to keep you informed.

Fact 1

There is a lot of misinformation going around about COVID-19. One of those is that children do not catch it or if they do, it’s very mild. Currently, in Nueces County, which includes the city of Corpus Christi, there are 85 children under the age of one year old, who have tested positive for the coronavirus. And one 6-month old child has died from the disease.

A new study has found that children, ages 10 – 19, spread the coronavirus JUST AS MUCH as adults do. Sending children back to school while the pandemic is still extremely prevalent is just those children into super spreaders.

Fact 2

During the pandemic, over 140,000 Americans have died. More than 50 million people have lost their job. And “America’s 600-plus billionaires during the coronavirus crisis topped $700 billion,”

Fact 3

This Fact was written with a specific segment of our society in mind but that segment has a negative reaction to even the name of the group it’s about so I’m rewriting it in the hopes that my target group will have a bit more of an open mind if I don’t use the name of the group. When it is claimed that a specific group matters, it doesn’t mean that ONLY that group matters. I’ll give an explanation I saw that I thought was good.

Six people sit down to eat dinner. Five people are given food but John is not given any food. John says, I deserve to eat too! The other five people say, we all deserve to eat! While true, everyone deserves to eat, it does not change the fact that John does not have any food.

This is the point that is being made by the group who feels they are not being treated as if they matter. Of course all groups matter, but it doesn’t change the fact that there are still certain groups who are being treated as if they don’t matter. They still have an empty plate.
