65 Year Old Oklahoma Woman Resists Arrest, Gets Tased
65 year old Debra Hamil of Oklahoma was pulled over by an officer with the Cashion Oklahoma Police Department on August 1st. The pulled Ms. Hamil over for broken equipment on her car. You don’t see it on the video but it seems she told him prior to him turning on his body cam that it had been broken for 6 months. The officer writes out a ticket but Ms. Hamil gets upset because she was not given a warning.
The officer tries to get her to sign the ticket but Ms. Hamil refuses. So everyone is aware, when an officer goes to issue you a ticket there are only two options; sign or get arrested. Signing does not mean you are admitting guilt. Just sign the stupid ticket.
Debra Hamil gets abusive with the officer and rolls up her truck window. The arguing goes on until she puts her truck in gear and drives off. The officer gets back in his car and chases her down. The next scene in the video is the officer taking her out of the truck with Ms. Hamil actively resisting the officer. He takes her to the ground in and attempt to handcuff her but she kicks him in the groin. The Cashion officer is forced to tase the woman to get her to comply. (See the video below).
The officer handled this woman’s white privilege attitude very well. We don’t know anything about the officer, not even his name has been reported, but we have to wonder what this would have looked like if the 65 year old woman had been black. It just seems that there is quite a bit of patience when officers are dealing with a white person no matter how belligerent the person is being.
Debra Hamil was arrested for resisting arrest and battery on a police officer. She pled not guilty and has to appear in court on August 27th. We’ll see what the outcome ends up being.
