Maryland Officer Arrested for Rape
Officer Arrested for Raping Two Women
We missed this story when it originally came out. Baltimore County Police officer, Anthony Michael Westerman, was arrested on December 9, 2019, for raping two women and sexually assaulting a third woman. The official charges listed in the Maryland District Court in Baltimore are two counts of Second Degree Rape and three counts of Second Degree Assault.
Sexual Abuse
Officer Westerman, a 25 year old man who had been with the Baltimore County Police Department since 2013, acted in true sexual predator fashion. In one case, he offered to get an Uber for two inebriated women at a bar, assuring them that he would have the Uber driver take them home. Instead he took them to his house where the women passed out. One of the women woke up to find Westerman raping her. When the woman tried to fight him off he “told her that he liked when she pushed at him and when she told him to stop and get off.”
Another woman was a friend of Westerman’s. In fact, she felt they were such good friends that she considered him almost like a brother. When staying the night at his one evening, he entered the guest room where she was and raped her. The third woman claims that Westerman kept cornering her at a birthday party and forcing kisses on her. The woman was forced to leave the party with a relative for safety.
More Investigation Needs to be Done
The sexual assaults that Westerman has been charged with happened when he was off duty but this man is obviously a predator. The Baltimore County Police Department really needs to look further into women that Westerman arrested to see if any of them suffered any kind of sexual abuse while in his custody. The odds are high that there are more victims out there. And like the women who finally did report Westerman, they may be too afraid of the fact that he is a police officer to come forward.
