09/22/2018 – 20th Bexar County Deputy Arrested this Year
Bexar County Deputy Diana Barrera was arrested for DWI in the early hours of Saturday morning. None of the news agency seem to be giving much information on the actual arrests. It’s probably starting to feel like they are writing the same thing over and over. I did find one article that included SAPD as an investigating agency which leads me to believe SAPD was the agency that arrested Deputy Barrera.
Barrera was a 12 year veteran with the Sheriff’s Office but had already been on administrative leave for some other infraction. None of the news agencies are saying what that infraction was. So much for Sheriff Salazar’s supposed transparency. They do say that this is Barrera’s third DWI. The previous DWIs were listed as being in 2002 and 2012. That means that when Barrera was hired she already had a DWI in her criminal history. How was this charge handled? Was she found guilty? If so, why was she hired.
What happened in 2012? How did she get out of that charge? Was she found guilty? A little more curiosity by reporters would be appreciated by those of us who don’t have their resources. At the current rate it almost feels like reporters are doing their best to help buoy up Salazar.
