04/17/2018 – Deputy Arrested for Sexual Assault
Deputy Leonard Lopez, who for a short period of time acted as the spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office, was arrested for sexual assault today. Deputy Lopez had been under investigation for the assault since May of 2017, when the victim reported it. The sexual assault occurred in September of 2016. Deputy Lopez was not on duty at the time of the attack. Lopez has turned in his gun and badge.
